Welcome to the Studio Journal
Hello and welcome. My name is Tim Miles, an artist living and working in Connecticut.
My work moves across several mediums as a way of exploring observation, memory, and the shifting patterns that appear through everyday experience. Painting has long been the place where those explorations run deepest. There’s something about the physical act of working with paint — the movement, texture, and unpredictability — that opens doors into parts of the mind that are difficult to access any other way.
In recent years, photography and writing have also become important parts of my practice. Both allow me to capture small moments of attention — fragments of color, structure, or atmosphere — that often find their way back into the paintings later on.
This space is meant to serve as a kind of studio journal. Here I’ll share reflections on the process behind the work, ongoing experiments across different mediums, and the ideas that continue to shape my practice. With multiple projects often unfolding at once, the blog will also be a place to document the evolution of new series as they develop.
If you’re here, you’re likely curious about the work itself — or about the person behind it. My hope is that this journal offers a window into both.
Thanks for being here.
Feel free to connect with me on social media or reach out directly through the contact page if you'd like to learn more about the work or inquire about adding a piece to your collection.
More soon.
