About the Artist
Tim Miles is a contemporary abstract painter living and working in New England. His work explores gesture, color, and the space between intention and instinct. Working primarily in oil on canvas, Miles approaches painting as a process of discovery — allowing movement, texture, and layered marks to evolve organically across the surface.
Each painting begins without a fixed image in mind. The canvas becomes a space where intuition and observation interact, and marks build, dissolve, and reappear to create a visual dialogue between chaos and structure. Through this process, the work becomes a record of thought, movement, and the quiet tension between control and spontaneity.
Through abstraction, Miles hopes to create a space where viewers can momentarily step away from the noise of everyday life and enter a more contemplative experience. Without a fixed subject or narrative, the paintings invite interpretation and encourage viewers to get lost in color, gesture, and form while bringing their own perspective into the work.
